Volume 15, Issue 429

According to the magazine U.S. News and World Report, the best job in America is being a dentist. Which is interesting because a dentist’s office is the only place where people still read U.S. News and World Report.

72,000,000 Million Content Views On ElectricSmarts in '14. Astonished Yet?
By

We're always asked by our amazed partners! Why is it that ElectricSmarts ALWAYS GROWS their reach?

Here's the short answer and why we always say it takes a Team; it takes a Network:

Every time we add a New Distributor, Rep Agency, or any other industry entity, we expand our audience because the content we provide is now available to THEIR audience. Our model is akin to a Television Network. Each time a new affiliate comes aboard their audience is added to the viewer pool and it exponentially increases. That's why our numbers are so incredibly large. We are not a single website, we are a collective of Wholesaler, Rep, and other relevant industry websites who target users, sellers, buyers and specifiers, etc.

This Month Features: The Appleton SMART eCat

With the popularity of the Internet, the world has changed. SMART eCAT is now one new important way.  Each month we will feature a new manufacturer’s electronic SMART eCAT that will show how looking up products and using manufacturer’s catalogs have never been easier. This “eCatalog Collection” now also appears on our distributor partner and manufacturer rep’s websites as well. We encourage you to look for these there and deal with the companies with which you already have close relationships and work hard to serve your everyday needs.

IEC Motor Controls Become Standard
Peter Walsh, PE

IEC motor controls have pushed much of the NEMA controls aside. Twenty-five years ago NEMA controls were the standard product; now IEC controls are standard. The IEC controls are less costly, smaller, and have world-wide acceptance.

NEMA Enclosures for Cold Room Connections
Chuck Ross

Enclosures are generally thought of as simple boxes. Sure, there are a range of enclosure types as defined by National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) guidelines, based on where the enclosure might be used – but still, they are basically simple boxes. Some situations require special attention, especially as that growing “Internet of Things” continues to take the need for WiFi signals, and the access points from which those signals are transmitted and received to previously ignored locations.

IEC Motor Control Trends
Peter Walsh, PE

IEC motor controls have replaced NEMA controls, but they are still improving. Initially the IEC controls gained popularity with dedicated machine panels. Then they became popular with panel shops for general use. Now electrical contractors are assembling IEC motor controls in their shops and on construction sites.
