MIS Directed Metrics or Hey, Where Do Customers Buy Their Stuff Anyways?
By Bill Floyd
In today's internet environment, metrics can indeed tell an important
story. But they can also tell an incomplete or inaccurate story. Numbers
alone that don't take into account how the market really works, and
stats that don't point customers toward a buying path may look good on the paper, but in fact may be counterproductive. Here's the story.

What Is Different about an Automation Contactor? Peter Walsh, PE
Automation contactors are different from the normal motor control center
contactors. Automation contactors are also called definite purpose
contactors. An electrician servicing this type of equipment will notice
the differences, but why are they different?
Common contactors,
such as in a motor control center, are designed to be adaptable to many
applications. The NEMA motor controls are an example. This designed-in
adaptability increases cost and size.
IDEAL Industries Rolls Out Several New Safety Products James R. Dukart
IDEAL Industries has rolled out a series of new contractors safety
products and programs, some addressing new arc-flash protective
measures, with others addressing broader safety standards and practices
within the electrical industry.
The company’s new Non-Conductive
S-Class Fiberglass Fish Tape, for instance, is designed for use around
energized sources, providing a non-conductive adhesive with a flexible
fiberglass core that allows for smooth handling around bends. A
non-conductive eyelet offers added protection against arc-flash.
Lighting Automation Still Requires a Contactor Peter Walsh, PE
Lighting automation has bells and whistles, but a lighting contactor is
necessary to switch the actual lighting circuits. Properly selecting
lighting contactors can save installation and maintenance costs. What
are some of the important considerations in addition to the correct
voltage and current?
