Time To Call In A Gardener

Time To Call In A Gardener

Bill Floyd
I used to love puttering in the yard. Cutting the grass got me outside, in the sunshine and out from under foot. But I know my limitations. Work and other commitments made my yard sad. Not sad like old rock stars in tight clothes, but sad like a vintage car that was worked on by an amateur. My work made the neighbors' grounds look pristine.

Time to call in a gardener. And, that was just the beginning. I came to the conclusion that it was worth paying for anything that required more expertise than I had - and that was a lot. It was time to stick to my knitting and do what I do well.

Technology is like that. Puttering is great. Training somebody in-house can be useful,  or calling in an "expert" - you know, somebody who knows  a tiny a bit more than you do. But does that put you in the major leagues? C'mon, your competition is AMAZON, Granger, MSC Direct and the like! Would you expect to beat Tiger Woods in his prime with a little help from a local expert? Or somebody from in-house?

If you are not taking this Internet thing serious enough, time to call in a tech gardener. Yards around you are beginning to look a lot better than yours. Hobbyists are giving way to professionals. If you are going to compete, the expectations are high.
