It's A Crazy World

The election season is almost in full swing and this is easily one of the most peculiar races in my lifetime. And, all sorts of events continue to happen as we march forward.
What a week they've just had in Orlando, Florida. Two crazy shootings and a rogue alligator brought the media to town in droves. Enough reporting has been done by the "regular" media but this column wishes to just add its condolences to the victims and their families.
I'd also urge you to be particularly attentive to these political races. Select your candidate wisely and hold their feet to the fire. There is a lot at stake. Too often what we've been told by the candidates on the way to office doesn't match what happens when they get there. That's THEIR fault. But then we continually reelect them. That's OUR fault.
One final thought, there in no issue more important in any election than security. No matter what side of the aisle you're on, nothing can be achieved in an unsecured land. There are no worker's rights, women's rights or any other rights amidst chaos. There are far too many examples of that around the globe to point to.
We are privileged to live here in the USA. It's time to stand up and make sure we keep it that way for ourselves, our children, and grandchildren.
