Tom & Jack

Tom & Jack

Tom and Jack knocked on my door.
They appeared so much the same.
Jack asked for the estimator,
but Tom called me by name.

Jack asked if I had projects.
He'd like to help me bid.
Tom knew what I was working on.
Somehow he always did.

Tom just knew my business.
He made a point to know.
Together we had won and lost,
and watched our business grow.

But Jacks a real nice fellow.
Brings doughnuts to the guys.
Not good in crisis, but has low prices,
so occasionally we buy.

Some stock and tools for daily needs
but Toms my go-to guy.
The service that he gives me,
makes it hard to justify.

The pennies I would save,
with the sometimes lower price,
the numbers might look tempting
but the numbers just aren't right.

'Cause SERVICE saves me dollars.
It's training all my men,
and showing us new products,
taking panic calls at 10:00.

Deliveries when the dawn breaks.
Somehow I have a hunch,
Tom stays to eat Jack's doughnuts,
then he'll stay to eat his lunch.

Two salesmen knocked upon my door
similar so I thought,
but their difference showed up daily
by the orders that each one got.
