Hard to believe that July is right around the corner and that means that
July 4th and Fireworks are on tap. Speaking of “on tap”, Americans
consume around 155 million hot dogs on the 4th of July each year, spend
$92 million on chips, $167.5 million on watermelon, and $341 million on
beer. Amazingly, no one really knows where the hot dog came from or who
invented it. Other amazing inventions: psychologist B. F. Skinner invented a temperature-controlled baby crib that he called the “heir conditioner”. And my favorite, the only head coach in University of Kansas basketball history with a losing career record was James Naismith, the inventor of basketball.
These facts made me realize how quickly the Electrical Industry is evolving, from smart products to business models relying upon eCommerce and instant connectivity. I’m proud to be associated with ElectricSmarts as we have been pushing the envelope since 2000. So not knowing where a product came from made me think of our BidAdvantage System and Contractor Software Estimating Package Databases. As a Manufacturer, do you know if your key sku’s are contained on the Estimating databases? You probably do not know and chances are your products are not there.
