You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'

You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'

Bill Floyd
You see that cute gal at the bar and try to buy her a drink. The more she resists the more you persist. Maybe you get lucky and she accepts. Maybe the relationship goes farther. Maybe she even falls for a big lug like you and against all odds, says yes when you ask her to marry you.

Move forward a couple of years and maybe a couple of kids later. She wonders why you don't notice her anymore. There was nothing you missed about her during the chase, but now? Would you say she's taken for granted? She would.

Customers are similarly desirable relationships too, and the game is somewhat the same. You chase them the same way. "What can I do to get your business?" Lunch? Samples? Better Prices? Whatever it takes. The more they resist, the more you persist. But what happens after they say yes, when they finally look at you in a different way and come on board? That's when the real work begins.

Too many companies are seduced by the customer they don't have rather than first securing the ones they do. Your longtime customer is your money in the bank. They are the ones that keep you warm at night and let you sleep well. So before you chase what you don't have make sure you "love the one you're with". Make sure you show them they're important and you'll grow old together.

"You don't send me flowers anymore." Do you?
