Data center racks and cabinets are painted at the factory and bolted together at the jobsite. Bonding and grounding can impact the performance of computer systems if the field connections are not conductive enough.

Data center customers often insist on strict compliance to the TIA-607B standard for all cabinets. This standard has detailed requirements for external as well as internal grounding. The requirements are more than just grounding the neutral and bonding the ground bus.





Siemens Introduces New P1 Unassembled Panelboards

Early this year Siemens introduced a new line of unassembled Panelboards aimed at electrical contractors seeking greater product flexibility and quicker job turn-around.

In particular, Siemens’ new P1 Panelboards feature field convertible main breaker and main lug kids — through 400 amps — that will allow contractors to switch from main lug to main breaker and vice-versa without having to change box size or accommodate additional cabling.

Data centers and telecommunication rooms use overhead raceway trays to support their cables. When a system is constructed or expanded, hundreds or thousands of cables can be routed to the computer equipment.

The most immediate concern is the time and money it will take for installation. Traditional cable trays are shaped like a basket with a flat bottom and the reinforcing sidewalls are up.
