New Category 6A Jacks and Plugs with Cobra-Lock™ Termination from Hubbell Reduce Downtime and Increase Installer Productivity

To support the growth of 10GBASE-T and emerging bandwidth intensive applications such as 802.11ac and 802.11ax Wi-Fi as well as 4K UHD AV over IP, Hubbell offers new Jacks and Plugs with Cobra-Lock Termination for secure connections in Category 6A applications.

Cobra-Lock is a punch-less termination method that locks wires into place and allows for easy re-termination up to 25 times by disengaging the lock with a small screwdriver.

Traditional punch-down terminations rely primarily on the connector contacts to retain the wires. With stiff, heavy Category 6A cable, this can create termination integrity issues after cables are dressed or active equipment is installed, requiring installers to return to re-terminate.

All Hubbell Jacks with Cobra-Lock Termination feature a narrow profile for high-density applications, a quick lacing wire manager that quickly arranges wires, and a zinc die-cast back for suppressed alien crosstalk (ANEXT). Once the back is closed, hinged locking latches snap into place.

All Hubbell Plugs with Cobra-Lock Termination feature compliance with Category 6 and Category 6A standards. They also feature a durable, die-cast housing and cord compression that secures the cable in place – ideal for permanently mounted devices such as wireless access points, building automation system components, or security cameras.
 
Cobra-Lock reduces installer callbacks and increases end-user confidence in Category 6A systems by eliminating the punch-down process. “Installers now have confidence that their Category 6A terminations will remain intact after they complete their work with Cobra-Lock,” says Nate Herring Senior Product Manager at Hubbell. “Cobra-Lock Termination not only increases an installers productivity by enhancing termination speed and reducing callbacks, it also increases their customers’ confidence in reliable long-term performance, thanks to secure connections that don’t come loose.”
