Digital Timers Begin to See the Light
Chuck Ross
When it was first introduced, digital technology brought a whole new
level of functionality to timers. No longer did users have to take up
the tedious task of manually setting the various dials needed to ensure
lighting systems and other equipment turned on and off in accordance
with facility schedules. Instead, users could simply tap in time
parameters, with LED displays providing easy visual assurance that
settings were correctly entered. Now manufacturers are layering new
capabilities on top of basic operations, just in time for owners and
facility managers to meet increasingly strict energy codes.
