Emerson Expands the Greenlee® Carbide-Tipped Hole Cutter Offering

New offering includes all conduit sizes up to 4-inch

ROCKFORD, ILL. (September 15, 2019) – Emerson (NYSE: EMR) today announced the expansion of the Greenlee carbide-tipped hole cutter.  This innovative design features a split point cobalt steel pilot drill which aids in accurately placing the hole, and the stepped nature of the pilot drill helps prevent over-drilling while protecting cutter teeth. Tungsten carbide teeth make for easy cutting while providing maximum life in stainless steel and producing round, burr-free holes.

“We’ve tried all brands of carbide cutters,” said Michael Verhallen, prefab and tool manager for Roman Electric Company. “The new Greenlee cutters are the fastest and last the longest.”

The carbide-tipped hole cutters available in two styles–a traditional One-Piece offering and a Quick-Change offering for even more convenience. The one-piece hole cutters combine an arbor and cutter, creating a solid and durable body able to withstand repeated jobsite use. The one-piece offering is available in two sets and/or 14 individual sizes ranging from 3/4-inch to 4-1/2-inch[1] in diameter.

The quick-change cutters feature a convenient push and turn connection, using a separate arbor for a wide range of cutter sizes to help lower the cost per hole. The quick-change offering is available in three sets and/or 25 individual sizes ranging from 5/8-inch to 4-1/2-inch1. The carbide-tipped hole cutters are engineered with tungsten carbide teeth to reduce friction; this produces less heat generation, eliminates the need for cutting oil and requires less-force from the user. An ejector spring automatically removes the slug once drilling is complete for improved efficiency.

“Stainless steel applications are common in the industry and it is a tough material to get through,” said Rob Bentley, product manager for Greenlee, Emerson. “Our carbide-tipped hole cutters offer a solution for our customers to easily make clean holes in stainless.”
