Temporary Power in a Box

It’s time to take a permanent stance on Temporary Power.

Temporary power, that is, such as is needed at construction job sites, for storm recovery or rental use at outdoor events and concerts.

These short-term power sources must be just as safe, reliable and durable as permanent, hard-wired electric networks, says Molex, an industrial solutions provider that offers its Super-Safeway Portable Power System as a plug-n-play single box device to do just that.

The Super-Safeway is an all-in-one Molex power box with Woodhead wiring devices and Safeway Cable Protector tools to provide UL-, CSA-, NEC- and OSHA-recognized power delivery systems for use both indoors and out.

From the outside in, the box is constructed from vulcanized rubber with a self-closing waterproof lid. As such, it’s resistant to shock, impact and corrosion and is built to longer than comparable traditional painted steel boxes.

Inside the box are color-coded straight blade receptacles and color coded circuit breaker identification for both straight blade and locking blade models to reduce nuisance tripping.

The box is rated TYPE 3R weather-resistant for safe and reliable use in outdoor environments and includes open-neutral GFCI modules for safe operation in areas that could get wet.

Sturdy aluminum legs keep all electrical components six inches above ground, in line with NEC regulations.

Each box offers a feed-thru feature that allows users to place multiple boxes in a serial configuration, and the box’s legs are designed for easy stacking for storage and transport.

The Super-Safeway weighs in at only 29 pounds, making it lighter and easier to deploy than many temporary power distribution boxes, Molex says.
