I remember the days when it was fashionable to spank
your child. My father would say to me, "This hurts
me worse than it does you." I wanted to say,
"Then you bend over, and I'll lighten your
emotional load, buddy." - Liz Sells
I decided to take better control of my life, and make
sure that less things go wrong, so I've been sleeping
for twenty hours a day. I figured in four hours even I
couldn't screw up that many things. And if I have to
parallel park, that leaves me with just one hour to
kill. - Paula Poundstone

- When Hell Freezes Over!
By Bill Floyd
"There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in their
home." - Ken Olson, former CEO of the out of business Digital Equipment Company.
I know change is like wearing a pair of wet pajamas. When you're good at making mini computers like Digital Equipment was, or main frames like IBM was, who wants to think or believe that a micro PC computer will ever catch on? Its a threat. Its uncomfortable. Its like having somebody spread peanut butter all over your fillet mignon. ...more

How Do I Pick the Right Receptacle
By William & Patti
Feldman
Electrical receptacles are generally categorized as
residential, commercial, industrial, or hospital grade
devices, with sturdiness increasing in that order, but
technically categorized by Underwriters Laboratory (UL)
into three performance levels: general duty, Fed Spec,
and hospital grade.
The best way to start
categorizing receptacles is to look for the UL marking
rather than rely on the terminology manufacturers use on
the packaging. ...more

How
to Reduce Fuse Inventory
By Peter Walsh, PE
Most companies are trying to do more with less. Several
popular cost containment programs analyze
and minimize working inventory. Some fuse manufacturers
have developed a popular service that reduces fuse
inventory at facilities or large contractors and
actually results in better fuse availability for the
electrician.
How is this possible? The
most modern fuse has been designed with combined
features that were only available on separate fuses in
the past. ...more

Choosing
the Right Switch
By William & Patti
Feldman
Electrical switches and receptacles are quick, ea sy
installs. Sometimes, the most challenging part of the
job is to pick the right products.
Electrical switches fall
into one of two commonly recognized categories: standard
general duty switches, which the industry generally
refers to as residential grade, that conform to UL 20,
and a higher grade, built to satisfy not only UL 20, but
also the Federal specification WS 896. ...more
