Tom Cruise has succeeded like 6 times in a row. Why do they still think these missions are impossible. @danaschwartzzz Follow us on Facebook Thoughts on the Gov’t Shutdown By Paul Werthman As I write this editorial, our US Government is still in shutdown mode. It is extremely disheartening to see the 800,000 + essential personnel who are working without paychecks while being told that they can do odd-jobs on the side or sell belongings on eBay to supplement their loss of income. The facts on the matter are that our elected Government officials will not work together for the betterment of the people. Instead, it boils down to partisan politics and ideological concepts. Electrical Hazards – Why PPE Alone is Not Enough Steve Maurer, IME At four times hotter than the sun, an arc flash damages everything in its path: property, production, and most importantly, people. Everything. Even if wearing the correctly rated PPE, a worker involved in an arc flash still faces potential injury. The force of the blast can literally catapult your team member across the room... unless a beam or other immovable object stops him first. New Wiring Devices Helping Data Centers Power Down Their Demand Chuck Ross If you could go back a decade or so, you’d find the growing data center market then under fire for its notoriously high energy demand. Operators based their siting decisions on locations offering easy access to inexpensive electricity, with energy cost being the primary motivator. Today’s owners, however, are equally concerned about the environmental impact of that energy’s generation, which is helping to drive efficiency improvements in data center design. Fuse Protection — No More Pennies Steve Maurer, IME Back in the day, and I mean WAY back, houses actually had no means of overload protection in their wiring systems. It didn’t take long for some electrical engineer to come up with the first form of protection: the fuse. The fuses were designed to break the circuit before overheating in the wiring caused a fire.
