How Time Flies! By Paul Werthman It’s amazing how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that we were using analog “cylinder” Fax Machines and paper-tape fed Teletype machines to communicate. We were Electrical Industry mavericks competing with state-of-the-art equipment, or at least we thought we were. I can remember working at Graybar, Los Angeles, around 1980. We had to boot-up the refrigerator sized mainframe every day and hope that it worked. This Issues's Smart eCat Features: IDEAL Electrical Products Each issue we will feature a new manufacturer’s electronic SMART eCAT that will show how looking up products and using manufacturer’s catalogs have never been easier. This “eCatalog Collection” now also appears on our distributor partner and manufacturer rep’s websites as well. Click here to see what IDEAL has to offer. Outside the wind was howling, rain pouring down as if from a fire hose. But inside, I was stretched out in front of the television, aimlessly clicking the channel button on the remote. Sigh... nothing good on tonight to pass the time. New Salisbury Face Shield Offers Full Color Recognition through Nanotech James R. Dukart One of the most dangerous conditions electrical workers can face in the field is arc flash. Salisbury by Honeywell has recently introduced new personal protective equipment (PPE) that uses nanotechnology to improve arc flash safety gear. Automation Control — From Start to Finish... and Beyond Steve Maurer, IME If we haven't fallen over the precipice already, we stand at the
beginning of a new age in technology that's being called the Fourth
Industrial Revolution. This new wave of
technology will alter and drastically change the way we do everything,
from work to play. And the wave is already crashing on the shoreline
with speed, scope and global impact that's unprecedented in human
history.
