Adopt a Shelter Dog

October is almost upon us and fall is in the air. That means baseball playoffs and the World Series. It also means National Adopt a Shelter Dog month. I have adopted incredibly loving dogs from the shelters going back to my retired racing Greyhound, Liza, to our current Schnauzer / Beagle mix, Harley.

I’ve found shelter dogs to be the most wonderful companions, extremely loving and caring, and seemingly instilled with a sense of gratitude for adopting them. I find it inconceivable that someone would have abandoned poor Harley at a mobile home park to fend for himself in the trash when he was a mere 1-year-old. Fast-forward and Harley has been my best friend for the past 11 years. We have experienced so much together and I hate the thought of losing him one day, but we are already planning for our next adoption. If you have never adopted a shelter dog, give it a try. Your best friend is just waiting to meet you!
