Fluke’s new T6-1000 Electrical Tester is designed to let commercial and light industrial electricians do basic troubleshooting, verifying voltage and continuity values and testing individual circuits to get current and voltage levels all without test leads or metal-to-metal contact.

Using FieldSense technology — transducing and calculating a known signal to derive measurements for source voltage — the T6 measures voltages up to 1000 V ac through its open fork, and can do so at any point on a circuit, eliminating the need to open covers or remove wire nuts. The tester’s open fork can measure wires up to AWG 4/0 (120 mm2) carrying as much as 20 amps.

The pocket-sized tester features a simultaneous voltage and current display, showing all power supply measurements at a glance, including:

  • 1 to 1000 V ac or dc (T6-1000).
  • 0 to 200 A ac.
  • True-rms voltage and current.
  • Resistance 1 Ω to 100 kΩ.
  • Frequency measurement 45 Hz to 66 Hz.
  • Works with wires up to AWG 4/0 (120 mm2) with a 17.8 mm jaw opening.
The display is backlit for easier low-light viewing and the test also includes a HOLD button to freeze the display.

Fluke says the new T6 Tester — first available in December 2017 — offers advantages in safety by reducing time spent in front of open distribution panels wearing full PPE and exposure to potential arc flash; in speed and convenience by removing the need to pull panel covers or wire nuts; and in efficiency both by allowing electricians to test anywhere along a circuit and by being able to measure ad voltage and current simultaneously.

The T6-1000 accepts the optional TPAK Magnetic Meter Hanger for convenient operation, and comes with a standard two-year warranty, extendable to 4 years through product registrationwithin 45 days.
