Heating cables keep water flowing in temperatures down to -40° F

ROSEMONT, IL, MARCH 8, 2017
-- EASYHEAT, a trusted Emerson brand, presents the AHB Series pipe heating system. Pre-assembled and ready to install, the cable prevents pipes from freezing in homes and businesses by keeping water flowing in temperatures down to -40 degrees F.

Pipes exposed to cold air, especially flowing air on a windy day, freeze at about 20° F because of factors such as breaks in an outside wall, improper heating, quick drops in temperatures, or lack of insulation. With it's energy-saving thermostat, AHB cables automatically switch electricity on and off, based on the temperature to prevent freezing. The cables operate on standard 120 Volts AC and are suitable for use on plastic or metal water pipes where they produce a fixed amount of safe heat.

EasyHeat AHB cables are ready-to-install with grounded plug, power indicator light, energy-saving thermostat and easy-to-follow instructions. Construction of the system includes a braided metal jacket for ground, a black outer jacket, thermostat, 2-foot orange 18/3 supply cord with grounded plug, and an integral power indicator light.

Key features are:
  • Tough PVC inner insulation
  • Weather-resistant PVC outer jacket
  • Continuous ground braid for safety
  • 3-wire grounded cord and plug
  • 7 watts per foot
  • 120 volts
  • Approved for rigid plastic and metal pipe.
Up to $70,000 in Damages
According to State Farm Insurance, depending on damages, total cleanup costs of a burst water pipe can be anywhere from $5,000 to $70,000. It estimates the average insurance claim for water damage from frozen pipes is about $15,000. An 1/8-inch crack in a pipe can spew up to 250 gallons of water a day causing flooding, serious structural damage, and the immediate potential for mold.

Price and Availability
AHB pipe heating cables are available in lengths from 3 feet to 80 feet in wattage ranging from 21W to 560W. Prices start at $22.94 (U.S.).
