SAN JOSE, Calif., January 10, 2017 – Legrand, North America today announced additional improvements to its expansive portfolio of Wattstopper lighting controls. The Wattstopper Passive Infrared (PIR) wall switch occupancy sensor, the WS-301, now features convenient Manual-ON control ensuring maximum energy savings and code compliance. These economical sensors replace existing wall switches and are ideal for retrofit projects and other applications.

Installing WS-301 sensors into areas such as offices, conference rooms, and break rooms can generate energy savings up to 60 percent by turning lighting or fan loads on and off based on occupancy and ambient light level. The WS-301 also meets electrical safety {2011 NEC} and energy {California Title 24 (2016)/ASHRAE 90.1 (2013)/IECC (2015)} code requirements.

In addition to Manual-ON operation, other features and benefits include:
  • Neutral Sense™ technology offers an Optional Neutral connection ensuring out-of-the-box compatibility with existing wiring whether a neutral wire is available or not
  • Shallow back housing and flying leads for easy installation
  • Color options with matched lenses offering aesthetically pleasing low profile design
  • Vandal/tamper-resistant lens that provide precise coverage and durability
This new upgrade is one of many enhancements being made to the company’s contractor-grade line of products and provides cost savings from reduced energy consumption along with the assurance of quality and reliability of the Wattstopper brand.

“Legrand is dedicated to providing the widest range of code compliant lighting controls to our distributors and their customers,” said David Kaminski, Product Marketing Manager at Legrand. “New enhancements to products like the WS-301 sensors demonstrate our commitment to improve on existing products while continuing to develop innovative solutions.”
