Q: How do I find Surplus Products listed on your site?

A: Use the search tools to locate products you're interested in. You can search by product Category or by entering Keywords like manufacturer names, catalog numbers or words you might find in the product's description.

Q: How do I make an offer?

A: From the search results summary page click on any product to display its details. You can make an offer from the bottom of the details page. If you're not registered you will be prompted to register before you make your offer.

Q: Where do these products come from? Is ElectricSmarts selling products?

A: ElectricSmarts does not buy or sell these or any electrical products. We provide the Surplus Exchange as a service to the industry and receive a 5% fee from the seller for materials that sell. Products are posted by Professional Electrical Liquidators, Manufacturers, Distributors, and Contractors.

Q: What does the Gold Professional Liquidator Seal mean that appears next to some products?

A: This seal indicates that the product has been posted by a professional liquidator that has passed ElectricSmarts's verification process. When you see this seal you can be assured that your transaction will be handled promptly, professionally, and ethically.

Q: How do I post products to sell?

A: From any screen within the Surplus Exchange click on the "Sell/post products" link. If you are not registered you must register before posting. From the posting page you can enter information about each product including asking price and quantity.

Q: How should I price the surplus materials I post for sale?

A: Keep in mind that people shopping for surplus products are interested in finding bargains. If your asking price isn't substantially lower than what they can find from their local sources your product will not sell quickly or at all. Depending on the type of product, surplus materials typically sell for 50-80% below market price.

Q: How will I be notified when someone makes an offer on a posted product or responds to my offer to buy?

A: You will automatically receive an email from the Surplus Exchange notifying you of a new offer. The email will include a link to a page only you have access to where you can review the details and respond by Accepting or Countering the offer.

Q: When I sell a product on Surplus Exchange how to I pay ElectricSmarts the 5% sellers fee?

A: When the Buyer has accepted your offer an email invoice will be sent to you. Mail us a check for the invoiced amount along with a copy of the invoice.

Q: How is the shipping cost determined?

A: When the Seller reviews an initial offer from a Buyer the Buyer's city, state and zipcode are included. From this information the Seller can include a shipping cost in a counter offer which can be further negotiated by both parties.

Q: How are arrangements made to pay the Seller for the material and arrange for shipping?

A: When a Buyer or Seller Accepts an offer finalizing a deal, an email will be sent to both parties with the other party's contact information. It is up to the Buyer and Seller to work out a payment and shipping arrangement acceptable to both. Typically the buyer will wait to receive payment before shipping the material.
