Today's commercial floor boxes are notably much better suited for power
and data com needs than older boxes. Recently, manufacturers have
introduced more efficiently designed and more universally adaptable
rectangular and round floor boxes that can better accommodate increased
reliance on high-performance data-com cabling.
These include multi-use floor boxes with more generous space and higher
capacity for audio/video cables that can be installed in concrete,
raised and wood floors, simplifying ordering and saving distributors and
contractors on inventory and stocking. The boxes are designed to accept
standard devices from most manufacturers.
