Slip Joint Fitting Eases New Code Enforcement
The 2008 edition of the National Electrical Code has reminded the
electrical inspectors of the importance of a slip joint feeding outside
meter enclosures. The 2008 change was minor, but because it was
changed, the inspectors will be more sensitive to the paragraph
requirements.
Code section 300.5(J) has requirements to prevent damage to buried
cabling connections to a structure resulting from ground movement.

Improvements in MC Cable Fittings
Manufacturers are refining the older technology of MC fittings to
achieve economy and simplification. This is because of the increasing
usage of MC cabling versus pipe and wire.
The traditional MC fitting was constructed of expensive steel or
malleable iron. It had a one end-stop design and a limited wire
application for each model number.
