Slip Joint Fitting Eases New Code Enforcement
The 2008 edition of the National Electrical Code has reminded the electrical inspectors of the importance of a slip joint feeding outside meter enclosures. The 2008 change was minor, but because it was changed, the inspectors will be more sensitive to the paragraph requirements. Code section 300.5(J) has requirements to prevent damage to buried cabling connections to a structure resulting from ground movement.

Improvements in MC Cable Fittings
Manufacturers are refining the older technology of MC fittings to achieve economy and simplification. This is because of the increasing usage of MC cabling versus pipe and wire. The traditional MC fitting was constructed of expensive steel or malleable iron. It had a one end-stop design and a limited wire application for each model number.
