Changes in Undercabinet Lighting
Residential undercabinet lighting has changed. The older types used
halogen or fluorescent lamps that had limited efficiencies, required
maintenance, and produced significant heat. The new undercabinet
lighting uses LEDs providing energy savings and other benefits.
The energy savings is substantial. If all the lamp types were providing
the same illumination, the LED lighting uses only an eighth as much
energy. For instance, a 22-inch halogen strip uses 60 watts versus the
LED, which only uses 7.5 watts. This can be useful to qualify new
residential projects to energy building codes.

New Blended Beauty In Pendant Lighting
Residential pendent lighting is known for its beauty above all else.
Customers can want beauty regardless of efficiency and energy
standards. Pendant fixtures are designed by artists who create beauty
in lighting.
These artists can make a lighting fixture conjure up associations of
exotic locations and rich lifestyles. For instance, one company lists
their decorative pendants as Art Glass, Crystal Ribbon, Asian Fusion,
and Tuscan Villa. Each of their pendants is handcrafted using Old World
materials and methods, such as mouth-blown glass, hand-polished onyx,
and fine porcelain ceramic.

lighting is attracting unfamiliar suppliers to the electrical industry
who are making great product claims. What's hype and what's real?
The customers have three choices. Buy products from a trusted name
brand, buy products that meet a third party specification, or buy from
unknowns with unverified claims.
