Reducing Nuisance GFCI Tripping

The technology of GFCIs has progressed to lower the risk of nuisance
openings. The original introduction of GFCIs was plagued with numerous
circuit openings that inconveniently disconnected power to important
equipment.
Changes were made in both GFCIs and typical appliances to reduce
nuisance openings. Newer GFCIs won't trip with a ground leakage current
of less than 4 milliamps. They still have to trip with leakage current
over 6 milliamps.
