New Receptacle Types

The 2008 National Electrical Code is requiring new types of receptacles. Many applications are now requiring Tamper Resistant (TR) construction as per section 406.11. This change is to prevent injuries to children when they poke at receptacles. Some of those locations also have a requirement for using GFCIs. Manufacturers recently introduced a receptacle that incorporates both features. Another change in the code, section 406.8, requires that all receptacles exposed to damp or wet locations have special construction.
