New Multizone Luminary Cable Combines Three Into One

Atkore International’s AFC Cable Systems has debuted a new three-in-one multizone luminary cable called the MC Luminary MultiZone that carries all power and control conductors under one sheath, allowing contractors to replace three traditional luminary cables or three power and three control cables with a single strand.

Along with combining what used to be three cables into one, the new cable can be used as a home-run cable when using a centralized lighting control unit.

The cables feature multiple PVC jacket color options matched to the power conductor colors for easy identification during installation, and by combining three cables into one, are designed to reduce labor and installation costs.

Unlike Wi-Fi or RF-controlled wireless lighting control systems, AFC contends, the MC Luminary Multizone offers a secure, hard-wired solution with lessened threat of intrusion. The new cable is compliant with all applicable UL codes and standards, compatible with 0-10 volt DC solid state lighting controls systems and is digital signal compatible.

The new cable is designed for daylight harvesting trends offering energy savings and reduced power costs by dimming lights based on available daylight. The cable complies with California Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings and other energy saving lighting designs.

The cable consists of an interlocking aluminum strip on the outside, with solid conductors inside with THHN insulation for power strands and TFN insulation for control strands. Its maximum temperature rating is 90 degrees C (Dry).
