Atkore International announced five new product offerings in the raceway space earlier this summer. The company’s Konkore Fittings division introduced a new Universal Super Connector and Universal 5-Piece Coupling. The Universal Super Connector is used to connect GRC/IMC/EMT pipe to boxes or conduit bodies, while Konkore’s Universal 5-Piece Coupling connects two threaded or unthreaded GRC/IMC/EMT pipes. Konkore says both offer up to 50% savings on material costs, provide universal connecting, obviate the need to turn or thread pipe, and are UL Listed 514B, C22.2 and No. 18-3-12.

Atkore’s Power Strut division launched its new Power-Strut Defender, a corrosion-resistant product line designed for harsh environments offering what Atkore says is three times the corrosion resistance offered by Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG) products.

Citing successful 1000-hour continuous use salt spray test results, the company says the Power Strut Defender not only outlasts HDG but avoids costly stainless steel hardware, saves labor costs by avoiding cut end touch-up, maintains a rust-free appearance longer than HDG and lowers maintenance costs for replacement.

Atkore’s Razor Ribbon division rolled out a new way to connect hanging sensor wire inside barbed tape without chaffing or setting off false alarms with its new Sensor Clip. The Sensor Clip uses a single fastener and self-tapping screw, making it faster and easier to install. For chain link fence use, the thickness of the clamp matches the diameter of wire used for chain link fences, meaning the clip does not need barbed connectors to attach securely to a fence. The Sensor Clip works with any Razor Ribbon product.

Finally, Atkor’s Cope division announced Quick-Latch for wire baskets, intended to speed up and simplify the connection of wire-tray baskets in the field. To install Quick-Latch, contractors can take any two baskets that need to be joined, slide Quick Latch on one end and simply use a pair of pliers to crimp down the hooks. No additional hardware or tools are required on the job site.

Quick Latch is UL approved as a grounding path with use of the CAT-GCs on either side of the splice if the cable tray is being used as an EGC. Though applicable to any wire basket application, Quick Latch is particularly useful in data centers and rooftop applications, Atkore says.
