Which Fuses are the Safest?

Which Fuses are the Safest?

Are there safety differences between fuses? Underwriters Laboratories lists fuses by UL Class for safe application. They have letter designations to denote the safety and other characteristics of listed fuses.

The UL Class H fuse requirements are intended for residential or low power circuits. Historically Class H requirements were developed many years ago along with the plug fuse requirements. You can still buy these types of fuses today, but it is not recommended, even by the fuse companies. Class H fuses cannot be safely used in circuits with an available fault current exceeding 10kA. They have no requirement for current limitation.
