Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems Details 2017 NEC® Changes in New Guide
As electrical industry technology advances, it’s crucial that installers keep up with changes to the National Electrical Code® (NEC®), which serves as the foundation for installation safety in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work.

Every three years, the NEC® is updated. The 2017 edition of the NEC® features the latest regulations for electrical wiring, overcurrent protection, grounding, and equipment installation. Some of the key changes to the 2017 code include:

  • New equipment labeling requirements for arc flash hazard warnings
  • New minimum space clearances for equipment installation
  • Revised provisions for AFCI and GFCI protection to improve residential electrical and fire safety
To keep the electrical industry up to date on these changes, Hubbell partnered with the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) to create a 48-page reference guide: 2017 NEC® Code Changes. This guide offers an up-close, hands-on look at some of the recent NEC® changes specific to Hubbell wiring devices.

The new language incorporated into these specific NEC® Sections is discussed, including an analysis of what the requirement means, diagrams and images to further explain changes, and the Hubbell solutions that allow compliance with these code changes.
